Most people experience anxiety from time to time. You may feel anxious before you take a test, give a presentation at work, or while going through financial difficulty. This kind of anxiety is beneficial – it can make you more alert and cautious. It also usually ends soon after you are out of the situation that caused it. But for millions of people the anxiety does not go away, and in fact it may get worse over time. If you or a loved one experience anxiety that is persistent, uncontrollable, or overwhelming it may be time to seek professional help.
